Popular Japanese game-maker Sega has recently introduced their new humanoid robot, EMA, also known as Eternal Maiden Actualization (WHAT?). This kissing robot seems to be aimed towards lonely adult men.

Packed with a variety of funtions, including the ability to enter into “love mode”, where the robot puckers up to any nearby human heads using a series of infrared sensors. EMA is also able sing, dance and hand out business cards.

“Strong, tough and battle-ready are some of the words often associated with robots, but we wanted to break that stereotype and provide a robot that’s sweet and interactive,” said Minako Sakanoue, a spokeswoman for, Sega Toys to Reuters.

“She’s very lovable and though she’s not a human, she can act like a real girlfriend.”

Sega is hoping to sell 10,000 units within its first year and envisions a $10-billion market for artificial intelligence in a decade.

The robotic “girlfriend” is set to go on sale in Japan in September for $175.

  1. I wonder what other functions the robot does in “love mode”. ^^ Robots are invading our world, but this one is so small it’s just a toy…one very expensive toy.

  2. It’s the Ping prototype! Although Sony is the company that made Ping in the comic.

The robot opens up to reveal an orifice? XD

Ooh Ping! I haven’t read MegaTokyo in agess, have to catch up one day.

They should combine them both, then I might actually consider buying one.

  5. Frankly speaking, I’m really confused to say whether this craze is for good or bad. I felt sorry for the guy who replaced women in his life by these realistic dolls… On the other hand, that person who has been divorced a several times, probably, would be glad to buy this hot item…
