Although not a new trend, recently there has been an increased usage of cell-phones being used to read full-length novels. Hundreds of novels and also original works are made available through many mobile websites.
Users will be able to search by book by name, author, genre, write a review for the book all through their phones.
Through this medium, an author going by the name Yoshi was able to publish his work Deep Love through his mobile website. This story of a Tokyo teenage prostitute was a hit went on to become a movie, tv show and manga. It even became a real book which has sold about 2.6 million copies.
When I was in Japan, I have never met anyone who did this but I did know a few people who read manga on their phones. I tried it too but could never get used to reading it on a small screen. I would give reading novels a try though.
